In our environment, 90% of the users are running something out of the MS Office 2003 suite along with IE. All of these are resource hogs. I would like to see how many sessions, in that same environment, where the users all had email open and an IE session. We all know that email is the one application that everyone uses as well as some form of internet access. So a "real" test would include both of these apps, per user. Show us 500 users on a box with those apps! _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Stanley Watts Sent: Monday, February 12, 2007 3:03 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Presentation Server 4.5 Release Date http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/features/comparefe atures.mspx Says support for 1 TB of RAM and the next line says Support for 32 GB of RAM for the 64 bit versions Anyways, 500 sessions on a single box is just as realistic as the number of concurrent connections you have today on a TS box. All depends on the apps you run. But the question is do you want to really have 500 sessions on a single box? If that box goes down for any reason you have 500 upset users. It's time for MS to change their specs/licensing. When we go to 64-bot operating systems the Standard Edition should allow us to access 8GB, not 4GB. I'll beleive it when I see it. Does anyone know if all portions of presentation server are 64-bit now? In PS 4 64 bit, some pieces were still 32 bit (like ima). I am in the middle of a new deployment and have a mess of 64 bit servers. Citrix consulting recommended we go 32 bit all the way which seems like a waste to me. Their reasoning was that 32 bit PS code was better all around than the 64bit edition.
