It's possible to start IE in however form you like - even a little grey
box in the middle of the screen, with no borders, menus or anything
else.

You'd have to be reasonably happy with some scripting or programming,
and use of the internetexplorer.application object.

There's probably other means, too, but given what you initially asked,
that's what leaps to mind.
