Mark, Just found this http://www.tricerat.com/?page=sdt#screenshots May solve our problem Simplify Data Transfer Overview of Simplify Data Transfer Simplify Data Transfer provides Fast, Easy and Secure file transfer for Terminal Services. It supports transferring files between the client workstation's drives and those on the terminal server. A simple interface permits users to easily browse their files, highlight files for transfer, and move or copy them between the selected locations. Simplify Data Transfer uses virtual channel technology to control bandwidth usage and works with both RDP 5 and ICA. Simplify Data Transfer gives the administrator a great deal of control over which drive letters are available for data transfer. RDP and ICA drive mapping is an all-or-nothing option. Simplify Data Transfer has an administrative tool that allows you to specify not only which drives are mapped but which way data can move: from client to server only, from server to client only, or in both directions something not possible with drive letter mapping. Key Benefits Protocol independent design supports ICA and RDP 5 Administrators obtain total control over which local and/or system drives a user can use inside the session and which direction data is transferred Data is encapsulated inside RDP/ICA virtual channels and is subject to the bandwidth restrictions being enforced on the connection Robust error checking Server based licensing means there are no per user charges and the client is freely redistributable Simple to use deployment scripts are provided Simplify Data Transfer is the easiest way to provide file management within Portal and Published Application environments Grant O'Connor iVASP -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mark CALLEJA Sent: Thursday, 17 June 2004 3:09 p.m. To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Mobility Solution Grant I got it working last night, but it is a little ugly. I used two servers and one workstation for my testing. ServerA Win2k XPe FR3 + RDP 5 client +WTSFTP client software ServerB Win2k XPe FR3 + WTSFTP Server software Workstation WinXP + ICA 8 client via NFuse Install Procedure I setup the servers with all the Spacks etc plus ensured that the Citrix components were working correctly (ie published and connected to an application). I then installed the RDP client on ServerA. Published the mstc EXE and tested the ability to connect to another server running Terminal services. I then installed the WTSFTP software on both machines (with the change user /install mode activated). I only installed one of the two components on each of the servers. I do not think it will make a big difference but just for completeness..... I then created a batch file to call map a client drive ( you probably could use connect drives at logon) then call the TS client with a RDP file. The RDP file will call the WTSFTP client and run as a "published application." STARTWTSFTP.CMD -------------------------------- rem This script will open a session to a server and rem create local drive mappings. call :mapdrive call :starttsc goto :eof :mapdrive net use j: \\client\c$ goto :eof :startTSC start C:\WTSRV\System32\mstsc.exe c:\test.rdp goto :eof ------------------------------- the RDP client file is: TEST.RDP ------------------------------- screen mode id:i:2 desktopwidth:i:800 desktopheight:i:600 session bpp:i:16 winposstr:s:0,5,0,0,768,572 auto connect:i:0 full address:s:ServerB compression:i:1 keyboardhook:i:2 audiomode:i:2 redirectdrives:i:0 redirectprinters:i:0 redirectcomports:i:0 redirectsmartcards:i:0 displayconnectionbar:i:1 domain:s:Domain1 alternate shell:s:"C:\Program Files\WtsFtp\WtsFtp.exe" shell working directory:s: disable wallpaper:i:1 disable full window drag:i:1 disable menu anims:i:1 disable themes:i:0 bitmapcachepersistenable:i:1 ------------------------------- I then created a published application from within CMC and used the STARTWTSFTPCMD file as the executable to launch. Then tested the application. The batch file maps the local drive (ensure that your test user is not prevented from mapping drives or the server prevents mapping of drives) then launches the RDP client. The login box of SERVERB will be presented to the user, the user enters their credentials and then the server automatically starts the application. I had problems with the "registering" of the users - but I am not sure if this an issue because I am using the eval version. The software requires the registration of the client with each user before the user is able to successfully transfer data from serverA to serverB. The importance of mapping the client drive is to allow the software to talk to the workstation drives. I tested the bandwidth throttling - which worked really well. I was able to transfer a file at 1K from the workstation to a mapped drive on ServerB. Permissions on the various drives were an issue (ie I had not given any to the test user and therefore I was not able to write to them...oops). I have tried to get a passthrough mechanism working for the logon onto the ServerB but was unable. I did find a Q article on using the credentials which are passed through via the RDP file. This will not work for us as we force our users to change their passwords regularly. If anyone knows of a solution please advise the group as there may be others who are in the same boat. I have tried this as an Administrator, so there aren't any permission issues on the rpd/ica connectors Grant O'Connor iVASP -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Kenzig http://thin.net Sent: Wednesday, 16 June 2004 3:32 p.m. To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Mobility Solution And note you certainly can run an RDP client within a citrix session so RDPFTP would work.
