I know what that is. :)  There's oil in the intake manifold.  Those 1.8 
engines don't have an oil trap in the rocker cover breather, so they can 
send oil up the pipe into the intake.  It the bungs up the injectors.  It's 
an easy fix to remove the injector rack, clean it out, and then fit a 
replacement breather pipe which includes an oil trap.

The back brakes, if discs (which they should be, being a 16v and CD spec) 
are easily fixed with different calipers.  It's a problem with some 16v and 
the bigger diesels (particularly the 2.0DTi SXi range).

My 1.6 8v likes to sip the semi-synthetic too - about 0.5 litres per 1000 
miles.  Considering I drive it like I stole it, I'm not too worried.  It 
blows blue smoke above 6000rpm or when cornering hard.
