Don't take your foot off the throttle - problem solved :)

Squeaking brakes are a Vauxhall trademark, in my opinion. Two Astras and
two Corsas owned by the guys at work all have squeaking brakes. The rear
drums in mine tend to soot up and get a bit rowdy on occasions. Even the
1983 Chevette my mum used to have had squeaking brakes.

The discs squeeking is probably to do with the lack of anti-squeal
shims. Most manufacturers put in a shim of bronze/copper type stuff
between the pot and the pad, which cuts down the noise. Vauxhall don't
appear to do so.

I wouldn't trust Vauxhall dealers at all to be honest. The one-man-band
mechanic our family has used for years does a much better job. He
specialises in Vauxhall and Ford - he's big into his rallying, and builds
rally cars from body shell up. My car goes there now that the warranty is
up. The car never went better since he serviced it.
