Dave, check to see if the supply reel is binding. The tape tensioner lever
may be too tight. ( Band around supply reel) Just had one with this
problem.

Subject: [TechAssist] Sylvania VCR - C6240VD - Doesn't load tapes or play
then shuts off

Sorry if this is a repeat post, mail has been acting up sending to
TechAssist group.

Not sure what's wrong with this VCR, its one of those throw-away models.
Tape tries to load, about halfway then VCR shuts down. With test (tape)
jig, it loads fine. It's as if the brakes are still on when loading. If
I help the guide posts along, video head spins up but then the
capstan/take-up assembly barely turns, like the brakes are on. I've
taken a good look and still can't see what's causing this problem.
Anyone had experience with this yet?

Thanks in advance.
