Dave, check to see if the supply reel is binding. The tape tensioner lever may be too tight. ( Band around supply reel) Just had one with this problem. Not sure what's wrong with this VCR, its one of those throw-away models. Tape tries to load, about halfway then VCR shuts down. With test (tape) jig, it loads fine. It's as if the brakes are still on when loading. If I help the guide posts along, video head spins up but then the capstan/take-up assembly barely turns, like the brakes are on. I've taken a good look and still can't see what's causing this problem. Anyone had experience with this yet? Thanks in advance.
