It could still be the picture tube.  Sometimes the Sony's will take a
long time to come on while the guns warm up and then give a good
picture.  One way to be sure is to test the tube.

Sony KV32S25
Picture/video blinks for a couple minutes when first turned on, then
stays 
on.
CRT does not look soft like I expected, so I could blame the IK circuit.
Left it in customers home while I researched it.
Didn't find this in any databases.
Anyone seen this?
