Walt,
no offense taken. Though I must say we're not all bad!
Now, you as a member of the "Bible belt" should be familiar with the
phrase "do onto others as you would have done to you".

Well, I would  NEVER have the nerve to expect my mechanic to talk me
through a transmission job on the phone for free! So the issue of him "being
nice" wouldn't come up. I pay as I go... It's a matter of  being "fair 
minded".

NY is beautiful in the summer.  Where did your wife go that was such a 
bad experience?
The decade is important on thet topic as well.
