Hi Jackie and all,

In response to our whining *smile* Malcolm has kindly sent to me instructions
on how to use the Object Viewer to stop Talks reading the network provider's
name on the main standby screen as well as the telephone application screen and
they work a treat. Mind you I now suppressed the announcement of the provider's
name on the telephone application only. I like Talks to read the provider's
name on the main standby screen. I find this information useful when roaming to
know what network provider I'm connected to at the time. Anyway, please find
below Malcolm's instructions and see what configuration suits you best.

Malcolm wrote: "It is possible to configure Talks not to say the name of your
provider, the word text and the text status.

Firstly at the main standby screen do the following:

Enter the Object viewer (Talks and long select).

Arrow down until Talks says Title>provider (That will be your provider's name).

Press Select.

Arrow down to Role.

Press Select.

From the list of available role types choose ignore.

If you exit the Object Viewer you should find that your provider's name is no
longer spoken.

Enter some digits to bring up the telephone screen.

Repeat the steps above to suppress the provider being spoken at the telephone
screen.

Still at the telephone screen go into the Talks settings screen.

Navigate to the Dictionary tab.

Create an entry with the word text replaced by an empty screen (enter nothing
as the replacement). Ensure that this is applied for the telephone screen only!!

Lastly create an application setting for the telephone screen with read text
status as no.

This should vastly reduce the amount that Talks says when entering numbers at
the telephone screen."

Cheers,
Amro

  Hi Amro

Yes, me too, it's done it on all my phones, and I think on anyone else's
  I've heard when dialling.

  Kind Regards,

I don't think that you can stop your phone from saying this. When I
press say number 0 to dial a number my phone says (Vodafone UK window,
text, 0). Using App Specific Settings I could only omit the word window from
being pronounced. I'm more than happy to be proved wrong though as it annoys
me too to have to listen to this superfluous information every time I start
  dialling a number.

  Cheers,
  Amro

It was a pleasure to help someone who was trying so hard. Now, all
  we need
to do is to answer his query :-) Personally, I have no idea how he
  might
stop his phone from saying the superfluous bits. Would it be
  verbosity?

  Cheers

  Barry

Absolutely brilliant and thank you Barry for an excellent
  translation. The
young new member appreciates it I have no doubt from his or her
  reply. It
was indeed obvious that English was not a first language but it is
  great to
have someone like yourself on the list who has interpreted and a
  very
valuable contribution from the new member. I an ashamed to admit it
  myself
but I had failed to translate also.
  Well done.

I think it was pretty good to say that English is obviously not
  Bardia's
  first language.

  I'll translate:

  hello all

  it is hot now!

Also, i have a question that I would like anserd.!

  Is that ok?

wen i hit a number my phone says 3 window, text

  Hi
My apology I thought Mandy had written to me directly as she had
  said Far
Eleanor. Realized it was via the Talks list and wish to apologise
  for
  additional personal information inserted.
