You can install version 3 over 2.5, but you first have to disable talks.
Sighted help is best.

Graham, I was under the illusion that to install TALKS you first had to
remove any earlier version, but perhaps this is wrong? I recently
uninstalled 2.5 to install 3 and needed sighted help for the install as I
was asked questions such as where to save the program. It only took a couple
of minutes but there was no speech assistance.
