The .sng files are not Midi files - they are Notator files.....they have to be 
saved
from Notator as midi files (.mid).....under save file, you will be given a 
choice :
save as midi. or save as .sng (song)..........

You can IBM format your floppies (if you are using floppies) in the Atari ST - 
it
should have the IBM compatible/Atari compatible disk drive that came with the
ST.....there is a utility that formats floppies IBM 720......if you are using
floppies.
