Subject: [sib-access] recording notes with Flexi time

Hello everyone…

I,ve been following the last few posts regarding the use of Sib
documentation. While I recognize that people (in this modern generation of
instant access to almost anything) can get lazy when it comes to reading
manuals, I must remind everyone that there are different types of learners
and different levels of proficiency when it comes to JAWS users.

Reading a reference manual can be a daunting task especially when you have
not had previous exposure to software. My opinions come from many years of
IT Access training with a broad scope of individuals with disabilities.

A PDF manual is not easy to navigate at the best of times. If the manual is
made with accessibility in mind you can use INSERT + F6 to navigate headings
with JAWS. The shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + N is very useful in navigating large
documents.

If I had time, I would convert the whole thing in Word to make it more
accessible to JAWS users. Maybe sometime down the road, I’ll do this.

And now to the insults…

Using words like “selfish” are less than tactful and do require some
moderation. Lets remember that we don’t know the other person’s story.
That is, everyone’s background is different. I do believe this is an
international list serve so language does come into play.

Dave, I appreciate your response. Thank you.

If my email has offended, I appologise in advance…

Sincerely,

Joël Dazé
