Arpad, I seem to remember about 30 years ago when I spelled the word as bus and = an "ancient" engineer, the guy must have been 40, pointed out to me that = "buss" is only correct when you are describing a fuse company. According to my electronics dictionary, the correct spelling has always = been bus, as its usage was derived from the vehicle that carried a = number of individuals grouped together, hence the name.=20 Larry Barnes -----Original Message----- From: Muranyi, Arpad [mailto:arpad.muranyi@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 2:06 PM To: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [SI-LIST] Re: Two requests I am surprised that no one asked the question what is the correct spelling for the single signal bus? Is it "bus" or "buss"? If I remember correctly, I have seen it both ways... And as a non English native, I could add a lot of oddities that have been bothering me as I was (am) learning the language. For example, an SI related word "differential" vs. "difference", why is one spelled with a "t" the other with a "c"? Can any one explain? If a single signal bus is spelled "bus", what is the plural? Buses, = =3D or=3D20 busses? 2. Can someone direct me to a web page with a schematic of a well =3D designed=3D20 cable TV signal splitter. I've taken a Radio Shack one apart, and = there=3D20 HAVE to be better designs! I'm curious what a good one looks like.
