Orin, As Steve Weir pointed out, current policy is "first party wanted/available postings". I had some friends in the Seattle area go through a severe RIF a couple of weeks ago. All of them are very knowledgeable individuals that I have worked with in the past and can confirm their capabilities. Ten to fifteen years of loyal and productive performance gone in a instant. Chris Cheng, who's posting you referred to, has been on the list longer than you have, and has contributed significantly. This is not to upbraid you, just to give you a sense of perspective. These are challenging times, and no one's job is safe. First party wanted/available is a fair and unobtrusive way to help our fellow SI engineers restore some balance in their lives. The ratio of useful discussion to job postings to seems to be rapidly swirling down the bowl. I don't begrudge the need to contact the right professionals or for those professionals to find a better position, but is there any way we can charge for the nuisance? -----Original Message----- From: si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sent: Thursday, March 17, 2011 3:55 PM To: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [SI-LIST] SI job opening at XXX ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List technical documents are available at: http://www.si-list.net List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List technical documents are available at: http://www.si-list.net List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
