Well the Floridians must be smarter then other parts of the country because
instead of working together it seems as the clubs are out to hurt each other
by changing their dates so they are on the same weekend as others with in a
driving distance- The thing that kills the Midwest is that the clubs are
all going to the spring so they can host a futurity. Thus we hardly have any
weekends left in the fall

Being in Miami, at the end of the country does not help, but we have weather
on our side, in February. So we have been working for the past few years to
make our shows desirable. With the linking with Ft Lauderdale, and now
having 4 shows in 3 days and the likelihood of great weather, we hope that
our judges are the final rose in the bunch that will attract the most
entries we have had in many years, and without dragging in fillers and pets.

handling a dog tells the judge that it isn't a major unless my dog goes best
of winners, and the judge reverses the decision. Yes that is a Blow when
the quality was less than what one should expect.
But there are other times when in my opinion the dog should go Best of
Winners and allowed to get the major and does not happen because of threats
from higher ups.
The main thing is that is why the All Breeds in German Shepherds are often
failing in numbers.
I personally believe that we need to encourage these clubs to use our
specialty judges. And our specialty judges need to accept these assignments
when it makes sense from a monetary and personal view.
It is one of those things that if we don't involve ourselves to help change
the situation...who will?
We have built quite a few majors in our area this year at All Breeds and it
benefited a lot of people and not always myself or our group. But it was
nice to see a quanity and quality filled classes instead of a very small
entry. Clubs need to learn that they need ALL Exhibitors to keep a club a
float these days.
I believe that this happens also with Specialty Clubs but again the judge
makes a big difference and where show is located.

Hi Sally, we always have majors at the N Indiana and Michigan specialty
shows. Yes, sometimes we have to build them, but good judges usually bring a
major entry. I find that often majors are built by handlers that do well
under certain judges at the all breeds, not that the judges are always good.
There are some good all breed judges out there though. They are crossing
over in fewer and fewer shows, mostly at the all breeds. I did go WB at one
specialty this fall though and it was one point in dogs and the judge didn't
cross ove rfor the major, which is a rareity. . A few years ago I was at a
specialty and it was two in dogs and four in bitches and a well known judge
was judging. In breed he gave the bitch BOW and well known handler of WD
said out loud, but it's not a major for the dog. The judge then said, Oh I
mean the dog is BOW. That would never happen at an all breed. JMO Ann
