I agree that if AKC wants judges not to cross over then do away with BOW. I
also thought about the judges giving that as an excuse. But one of the
situations I did notice the Rep was standing right at the entrace of the ring
looking at a catalog and watching BOB . The judge was obviously uncomfortable
and I happen to know this judge well and afterward she told me that she was
under pressure not to do "easy" cross-overs. I know her well enough that I do
not think she was lying. So maybe every area's Rep is different.

I think those judges are using that as an excuse to make themselves look better
when they don't cross it over. I have been judging now for 12 years and have
yet to be told not to cross it over. I don't always do it but if I feel the one
with the lesser points is better in BOW then I will certainly cross it over
even if it were the only entry. If AKC does not want us to cross it over then I
say the need to do away with BOW>
