The standard does say that the level or overshot bite is undesirable( again
not in italics in the standard book) BUT..Compete dentition is "preferred"
and any missing teeth other than first premolars(notice this is plural) is
a serious fault. this  says to me that having first premolars is
desirable..but not a fault.HOWEVER any OTHER missing teeth other than these
2 first premolars is a "serious fault"  Two missing premolars could be a
mitigating factor when two animals are in contention and are similar enough
that you have to use something to make the call..but not serious enough to
put up an animal who does exhibit a "fault" in some other area( as
described in the standard) over the animal who simply has a trait that is
"not preferred". This at least is how I am reading it. Christine
