This is a totally new situation for me and I don't want to proceed without
hearing from some of you who might have done this. Thanks.

Paul opines...
We've done this very thing a couple of times in our 20 + years and it's a
doable situation. Ideally they don't whelp on the same day. We are also very
careful their paths do not cross.
One of the times this situation occured it was a Corgi and GSD litter.
Corgi's are not the best when it comes to the mothering thing and it can be
difficult to keep them with their puppies. Gigi the Corgi was being
particularly bitchy about this so we had our shepherd bitch nurse and later
raise the Corgi litter. The shepherd was Cindy (Maggie's mom) and she was
awesome. She's such a good mother and treated the Corgi's as if they were
her own.
It was a great experience...
