I was just sitting as a Superior Court Judge to try to settle a case in Family
Law.
The couple were getting a divorce and the mother was in Korea, the father in
California and they had a three year old child. When dad took the boy to Korea
for two months with his mom, he had to quarantine for two week in Korea. When
mom brought the son to California she was fine, but when she returned to Korea,
she had to quarantine for two weeks. We did settle it.
I guess this year, if you go to Illinois you will get an extra two weeks back
home to unwind. So, those who can take off three weeks will enjoy the dog show.
As Mr. Dylan said, "Times they are a-changing".

For people asking (and there have been a few) NJ and a few other states in
this area require quarantine at home for 2 weeks after travel to certain
states. The NJ list is currently 30 locations, and includes Illinois. "The
14-day quarantine travel advisory applies to travel from certain states
identified as those that have a positive COVID-19 test rate higher than 10 per
100,000 residents or have a 10% or higher positivity rate over a seven-day
rolling average ("impacted states.")"

Is it really a "National" if most of the Nation can't go? OK I guess that also
the case a lot of years....but this year it's more true than ever. I'd LOVE to
show in obedience and rally, but if I go I have to quarantine myself for 2
weeks after I get home. Can't really afford to take 2 extra weeks off of work,
so it's a no go for me.
Do the winners end up with an asterisk next to their names? and always looked
at as "Oh yes, they won, but that was the year hardly anyone could show!"
Just random musings....

I have followed with interest the National news.
Now I see that it could be shut down at any time. That only families or travel
groups can sit together. The public won't be allowed. And, to top it off, the
money making events will not be allowed. Then we are told it will be expensive
to put on. This could affect the future of the GSDCA.
It is time to stop the madness. I know we all want the National, but do we
want it enough to have such a limited show, deplete the club finances, and risk
everyone's health?
I ask the question, and do not offer an answer. I want to have dog shows
again, if they make sense. What is the good of holding a National that a lot of
people can't or won't go to, that will be a net loss to the club, and restrict
the events that are so much fun and used to be a part of our club.
I call on our Board to protect the club, the members and the dogs. Think beyond
what seems a need, and do the right thing.
