There was no debacle. There was spontaneous discussion at the Board meeting
regarding problems with the in-ring temperament evaluation, particularly
when incorrectly administered by certain judges, and on the problems this can
cause, both to the affected animals and their owners, and to perceptions among
all-breed judges and the public.

Margery's has more than perception here....she is the recording secretary
and does so with great detail. She also appears to be the best accuracy

I was also present at that board meeting and listened to the discussion on
temperament testing. There was many good points both for and against having
the test. One of the biggest problems is an incorrectly administered test,
more amongst our all breed judges, but still includes some of the specialty
judges. It appears to be a matter of interpretation by some, we all do not
see things the same.
Perhaps more judges seminars might help to better educate the less informed
if the test as we now know it is to continue.

And of course there is the argument that making the Shepherd the only breed
to have to undergo such a test does send the wrong message. I so agree with
the post that a good judge can tell temperament by the dogs eyes and body
language. So what does that say about the rest?

To do or not to do, that is the question? Perhaps open forum will assist
the board in whether it should be continued or not.
