There are so many foods off limits to me because I am a cancer patient. My
nutritionist at the clinic is constantly worried with the extended use of
steroids how it suppresses my immune system. So, many foods are just not safe
for me. Bacteria and viruses are big issue's for people in treatment.
Dogs have a very similar metabolic system as we do. One of the biggest
problems and the root of many problems that we constantly hear about GSD is
immuno suppressed systems and immune mediated problems. So, if the food is
what
makes us and them what are we doing feeding anything that compromises that
system? As Carol mentioned, bacterial levels in raw are a huge concern. The
mirror image is convincing......
I am glad raw works for some, and as we always have agreed in the past what
ever works for whoever is the best route.
But for me, there are issue's with raw food and no argument is going to
change that when the scientists and professionals I deal with have sound
warnings. Hence, it scares me.
My guys get canned salmon, mackerel, a mixture of hamburg and turkey burg
cooked together, liver and veggies. Everything is cooked or steamed to
preserve nutrients. And it works for my dogs...................
Please, no food wars.................just whatever works do it.
