I have to agree with you on that, it does cause anger, as clearly seen by
reading all the posts, and mistrust, not a good thing.

As I said before, I don't have the answers, I just hope that the board members
will listen as people contact them.  I know many do not belong on this list, so
the contacts should be done to their email, I sure hope people will do that,
even if they feel its futile.  Just to express this on this list that many do
not get is not productive as far as the board hearing it.

I could go along with your thoughts if the membership had not voted to rotate
in a specific maner. So it is not just going against  a popular opinion it is
going against the written word. By doing this with out even alerting the
membership and listening before the boardmeeting what the BOD has done has
caused anger and more distrust.

Hi Sally

This is how I look at it, I'm probably totally wrong but here goes.

The board IS the governing body, yes, they should listen to the memberships
wishes, but the same is in government and politics, we elect officials that
SHOULD vote/write laws etc as the wish of the people, and it does not always
happen.  Do I agree or like it, NO.  BUT, I don't always have all the facts.

I serve on our local GSD clubs board, and I'm sure our little board has made
some decisions that the membership (at least not all of them) have agreed or
liked.  But there have been reasons to do or vote a certain way due to
different circumstances etc.  A big example is last year we voted as a board to
drop Obedience from our Specialty Show.  Many in the membership did not like it
or agreed with our decision.  The reason we did was purely financial.  We could
not justify the loss of profit our conformation show made  to pay for the
obedience judges for 4-6 dogs that would enter.  That was NOT an easy decision
and cussed and discussed for several years.  When we finally did do it, there
were several members that were truly upset.  Some actually exhibit, some do
not.  I was one of the ones that voted for dropping obedience.  Did I NOT
listen to the members that still wanted to offer it at our June show?  I DID
listen, but as a board member,
there are multiple factors to be considered when voting on things.

The only reason I'm writing this is to help put things in perspective.  I sure
don't have the answers either, I'm just trying to be fair to the board and
perhaps I'm naive enough to believe that they have the best interest of the
club at heart!

Interesting concept Chris -but why do the people have to prove anything?  The
membership  voted on a rotation it is in the By-laws-  or P and P I don't
remember which.  A contract was signed- The BOD may think they have a good
reason to change the national site but do they have the right to go against the
voice of the membership who voted for a specific rotation with out the approval
of the membership - Just asking

I totally agree and hope that as many members as possible will write the board
members.  I do think they listen to voices of reason, we just have to prove
reason to them.
