Some good ideas Peter. We always include in the
packet a copy of Barron's Dog Bible book, The
German Shepherd Dog. It has a section of selecting
a breeders, what to expect when brining the puppy
home, equipment and items the new dog will need,
first aid and what to put in a first aid kit,
training tips, etc. It is quite complete. Everyone
should keep 1,000 on hand to pass out. OK, it is
my book, but it is rather complete for a new
owner. <grin>

We only had 4 litters with 2 bitches but we did
manage to come up with this to tell puppy buyers:
Please tell us you will consider getting another
puppy from someone when this puppy becomes 10
years old. Couple of reasons. Your older dog can
teach a puppy. A puppy will keep your older dog
active both physically and mentally. And perhaps
the most important: if you wait until your puppy
dies, you may be so sad that you will put off
getting another puppy. BTW, we always gave them a
manila folder to hold the puppy's
documents/information. Inside would be this
information and other ideas such as on
socialization including puppy classes that were
good.
