I don't know if anyone else here is old enough to remember when we had all the
futurities on one day (unfortunately, I am that old). Many, many were forced to
show in their own region because they could either not get to another region or
could not get a handler. And as someone else said, what do you do if your puppy
was whelped in GA but you live in CO? And what happens to the regions with
fewer litter nominations when no one can come in from outside their region? The
objective is to show off as many good young progeny as possible - whether they
are from that particular region or not. You really want to have as many of the
good ones shown as possible.
