The last time the national was in St. Louis...while watching the show I bought
a three month old puppy....I called American Airlines to see if I could fly
this dog home with me....they confirmed the dog..I went to a local vet near the
show to get the health cert.....two days later, Sunday morning, when the dog
and I got to the airport American Airlines informed me that my dog had been
bumped off the flight and there were no other fights to the Bayarea that day
that had room for the puppy.....Thurban Warrick saved me that day.....I flew
home and he flew his dog and mine back to Vegas...a few days later Thurban put
the puppy on a plane to San Francisco........a few years later when I returned
that same dog ( now grown) to the breeder the hassle and time it took me to get
the dog back....well lets just say I am very surprised I didn't get
arrested...my behavior was wrong, but my famous temper got the best of
me......three days later I finally got the bitch back to the breeder...I
remember a few years ago Kobe had a terrible time at the airport trying to get
to the National, and I'm sure there are many other horrible airline stories
about flying dogs....for some reason I now have another show dog ( misery
loves company I guess)...If this young dog should happen to win or go reserve
at his upcoming futurity.......after deep thought and conversations with his
REAL owner ( my wife)...we will fly him 3000 miles to the National...I just
hope I don't go to jail..I'll do my best to try to win at the futurity...but
if we lose.....it won't break my heart......don't tell the Ginsburgs I said
that...lol...they own this dog too.......Ed Hill

St Louis was the year that we realized we would either drive to a National or
not go. Ask how many people had trouble flying out with their dogs the Sunday
after the National. It was chaotic at best.
