I was interested in the AKC saying in a society there should be closed
meetings especially for trials.
We here in America have a constitution. It was in all of the papers at the
time. One of the main rights is the right to a speedy and public trial by our
peers. What is not allowed is secret trials, hearings or meetings.
I guess the AKC has decided to set up its' own systems, and be damned by the
United States. An organization may set its own rules and regulations, but
they may not violate the United States Constitution. Or, at least that is what
I learned in fourth grade, and then again in law school.
When I sat at the head of the trial board for the AKC, I did have to rule
against them. They disbanded the trial board, picked new members and set up a
new board. They did the same thing when Kathy Casteel's board ruled against
them. They can do that, it is just a strange way to dispense justice. I would
never listen to anyone from the AKC who propounded to understand our system
of justice.
