I totally agree with you, Joyce.  Just because she chose not to bite the child
the first time does not mean that she will use that restraint again.  I had an
experience like this recently.  A young male who didn't turn out as a show dog
was rehomed with a wonderful family who had another dog from me.  On the first
day, the dog growled at their younger son.  He was fine with the rest of the
family.  The little boy was not doing anything wrong.  He just wanted to pet
the dog.  I felt like the dog should be removed right away, but the family
wanted to try and work it out.  That evening, the dog bit the little boy rather
badly when the boy tried to approach him again.  I immediately went to get the
dog.  He was put down.  I regretted this very much, but this kind of aggression
is just not okay with me.  The dog was not raised around children, but I see no
point in making excuses for a dog.  If a dog cannot, for whatever reason, be a
good
representative of the breed to the public then he has to go (if I am the one
making the call).  Sometimes dogs are put in situations that are not fair to
them, and I hate it when that happens.
