I agree with all Ann said and while I admire the new family wanting to work
things out I am quite troubled by the bitch snapping at a toddler. Even
if a dog doesn't like children (a GSD??????) the correct response is
flight. No matter how careful the new family is there is going to be an
instant
when a back is turned. It's not "her space" (the dog's) unless she's paying
the mortgage.
Sooooooooo...I suppose they could train, maybe have the dog separate from
guests and children, but I come back to the time the back is turned and
there's no reasoning w/ a toddler. I'd look for an adult only home w/
experienced dog people. Just not worth the risk w/ a toddler.

I had a similar situation years and years ago when I rescued a bitch,
sweet sweet dog the first three weeks, then she started becoming increasingly
dominant (humping my son, started growling at me out of the blue). Took her
to a trainer, and she ever tried dominating the trainer so for her we had
to place her elsewhere due to having small children in the home. Was not
worth the risk.
She sounds like she is testing her limits, and is a dominant bitch. THEY
need to take control, do classes with her, and keep her on lead until she
learns her place, and if she does not I would take her back and find her an
experienced adult household.

Hi Guy's
I helped place a 4 yr old bitch last month
I just spoke with the family and although the first 3 weeks went really
well we are now seeing some issues. And what I would consider regression
They had 24 people in the house for Easter and she was great ! " a social
butterfly" but yesterday just one visitor for lunch and she was showing
aggression.feeling the need to protect her favorite person by showing her
teeth then becoming very shaky
She has started to claim under the dining room table as her space and has
warned ( snapped) at the 3 year old for going in her space
The only thing that has changed since they took her home is she was spayed
12 days ago
This is a very nice family and they would like to work out these recent
issues
Any Ideas ?
