When I said Down! to my dogs, they Platzed!  LOL....  It depends on   
the training, Jackie.  When I said "Wait", it meant "hang where you   
are, don't move too much"  When I said "Stay!"  They were statues.   
Come here... take your time, but get close...  Come!  Zap to me and   
sit in front of  me!  Tone of voice, and repetition 

I think people ought to just be comfortable in however and whatever   
works. 

And when I said "Sit Down," my great obed. mentor would say "What do   
you want?  Sit or Down?"  I learned.
