If this technology really is coming, it might be a good idea to discuss how it will be used by breeders. Well, in the past, I had a bitch who produced a heart murmur. I took her out of my breeding program and had her spayed. If I could have a DNA test that would tell me a bitch carried the recessive for a heart problem. I would probably do the same and never create the problem. OR, I might could find a sire that DID NOT carry the problem and be able to breed to him. There is a lot to think about here, But I foresee in the future a lot of elimination of health problems coming about through DNA testing.
