Oh for God's sakes Barb, one would have to realize the owners who did the
test would be heartsick when their dog came down w/ DM. And then they spent
the $$$ for the necropsy.
What would be the point of creating a false POSITIVE?
I mean, if one was going to fib, wouldn't it be for a false NEGATIVE?
I don't know who you hang with, but I've never had someone lie to me about
what thier dog carried.

Yes, absolutely.
I have been blessed by not experiencing it, and to my knowledge not
producing it, but I have paid particularly close attention to pedigrees.
Admittedly "staying away" was due to dumb luck in the beginning...
Anyone who knows me also knows I don't think the test is "there" yet and
I'm not entirely convinced the DM that hits other breeds is identical to
what
they are now calling GSDM.
Before you all get you knickers in a twist that doesn't mean I haven't
sent
the test off as I have done DNA for other things (black & coat facor).
So far 3 boys tested, 3 boys n/n.
(And all 3 carry the coat factor and two carry the black factor...it's
getting a 'lil dark around here <G>).
I am not promising future puppy buyers their puppy will never come down w/
this dreaded disease though. I still think we are in the research stage
and I am extremely troubled that "carriers", (per the OFA's test) that
technically should not have developed DM were proven to have DM at
necropsy.

that they are coddled like some toy lap dog.
If anyone has an idea about bloodlines being tied to this disease, I
would
be interested to hear it...privately of course and held in confidence.
