[ SHOWGSD-L ] DM...awful thing

I have a question for da' List; we have been talking about testing for DM, but
does anybody feel that this disease is related to a particular line? I have
not heard this, but was wondering. It is so sad to see what seems to be an
epidemic of this terrible disease. I can honestly say that I do not not anyone
in my circle that has not been touched by this disease. I have been involved
with this breed for almost 40 years and it seems that over the last 10, I am
hearing so much more than I ever did before. Maybe it is the way we
communicate today, I don't know.
We should have one of the strongest and hardiest breeds around....they should
be able to work all day and exist on dirt if need be (an exageration of course)
and live to a hardy 12 or 13. They should not need fancy diets, suffer from
digestive issues at the drop of a hat or be so darn sensitive that they are
coddled like some toy lap dog.
If anyone has an idea about bloodlines being tied to this disease, I would be
interested to hear it...privately of course and held in confidence. Cynthia
(who has gone through it and is probably going through it again).
