[ SHOWGSD-L ] Clubs losing money on shows

I'm sure you've heard it/experienced it before...our specialty club lost
money on our show this year - about $250. I do not know how we can continue
to hold shows. We are a small club, and can't afford this expense.
We had a pretty decent turn out, not the biggest, but quality dogs from all
over the country.
If we hire "local" judges to save money, we'll lose our local entry because
no one will be able to show. We Texas GSD exhibitors are somewhat
incestuous.
We charged $21 for entry fee. Is that low? Any ideas from other clubs would
be GREATLY appreciated!
