I agree. Performance titles towards the PAM is proof to the breed and  to the 
public that these are great dogs. All of mine are American bred champion  
sired and all titled in many venues including obedience, rally, agility, draft, 
 
weight pull, therapy, and anything else I can manage to get their brain cells  
wrapped around.

As a conformation owner/breeder for many, many years, I also  agree with the 
above
post.   Personally, for me, the most  admired shepherds are those with
a combination of conformation
success  combined with performance & working titles.   Over the years, I  have
heard way too often that a beautiful conformation dog cannot "work",  
especially an
American bred.  This is so untrue & believe me,  even non-GSD observers are
often sooo impressed when they see a smooth,  ground covering stride on these
dogs as they do beautiful work with  herding!   That impressive movement in 
the
show ring is even MORE  impressive as you watch them gaiting across the field,
using their proper  structure & movement all on their own.
