[ SHOWGSD-L ] 1/4 horses was: Re: NOT size again

You all got me going back into the history of the QH. As a teen, I was
"stake"racing (before barrels) and jr showing. Had QHs, mustangs, couple of
Standard Breds, a thoroughbred or two, a welsh pony, a mule and a workhorse and
others. (My mother loved to trade....anything!). I remembered that the QH
came from the Arabian stock/bred to English horse and some other...can't
remember exactly. in the 1600s. They used the breed everyway
possible...even
behind the plow. Raced them (1/4 mile). "Go West, Young Man" got them on
the
range and being used as cowponies. Then the "fancy" started and breeding for
different uses started different "looks" of the horse. (Sound familiar?)
I still remember my Pam, though...about 15 hands high, "well built" and could
turn on that proverbial dime and give a nickel back.
