You are spot on Ed, the zone system can be used to change reality-in the print
that is, one is not fixed to a hard and fast redition of the scene photographed.
Though I have not read Minor White I have been told that his book is amongst
the best o the subject.
I used the system with 35mm range finder, it means I have to shoot pretty
quickly under the same lighting conditions. When I change the roll I simply
write on the cannister N+1 etc. This has worked well for years.
