Jeff, thanks once more for your assistance! I can understand that if each memory cell is a type of transistor the reliability would be questionable. I have been using them for the back up of some of my records as well as picture storage.I would suppose that they would be best for travel. and temporary use. They are semi-conductor devices. Each memory cell in a flash drive is actually a type of transistor. These types of devices are not reliable archival media either. Eventually a bit or a byte of date stored can drift from its original state and as with other digital storage, becomes unreadable. Also, the devices can only withstand so many read/write cycles before they wear out. Depending on the type device, that rating may vary from a few thousand to a million reads or writes....
