That is the explanation, the Compur Rapid with a 500th top speed is not the 
original shutter for the Rolleicord II fourth version and then the hole in the 
front cover for the cable shutter release does not coincide with the piece in 
the shutter to release it. The Compur Rapid used for the Rolleicord III and the 
Synchro Compur used for the Rolleicord IV have the means to release the shutter 
in a position doing necessary a hole below the taking lens to your right 
holding the camera front facing you ( or to your left for the camera shooting 
position), a position similar regarding the Compur #1 photograph I quoted 
previously.

The Compur #00 1/300th shutter speed is the original shutter for the Rolleicord 
II and this is the reason the cable release works fine, this shutter has not 
flash contact originally and then your flash contact was added afterward.-
