I had a mail exchange a while ago with cupog, a Slovak ebay seller who does camera restaurations and has a pre-war Contax on offer every other month. When I mentioned being anxious about forged Contaxen, he made the valid point that compatible, early Kiev models actually go for more these days than Contaxen in comparable state, while the later, more accessible Kievs differ enough from the Contax to be of limited use as source of parts. In the end, it's patience and applying common sense that pays off when looking for a Contax (or Rolleiflex, as I had to learn the hard way...). You never have that, and should always plan for having your buy serviced. Sometimes, a camera will actually be fine, but you cannot count on it. hauke -- "It's never straight up and down" (DEVO) --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
