I wouldn't call it a favorite accessory but for me the prism has become
almost essential. I went to using a prism because of age related failing
near vision. I could no longer look right down on the image with out
reading glasses and the prism solves that problem. You don't need your
glasses at all (if you can set the controls well enough by squinting). I
was afraid when I switched to using the prism that my compositions would
get stiff and I think they have. Nothing quite as nice as just gazing
comfortably at the image on a screen. As my eyesight worsens I can see I
might go back to the WLF due to needing glasses all the time anyway.

What I do like about the prism is that for hand holding you are not
restricted in the orientation of the camera. You can hold it sideways
like binoculers or upside down to give you and extra bit of height. I
find it more stable when looking straight down to hold it sideways. When
holding the prism in the normal orientation I put my left hand on top of
the prism when about to shoot. It is very stable that way.

I suppose the pistol grip might be useful but it just looks too goofy for me.
