I dunno about needing to place signs. I've always been a great fan of Darwinism... If enough folks decide to travel the road without checking, or decide not to turn around and go the way that's listed on the website, I kind of think that's on them... <G>

The thing about signs (and believe me, I know about signs) is that someone has to make them, place them, and pick them up. The lettering would have to be big enough, and then there’s placing it; the ground is really hard along the highway.
The good thing about cones is usually people think twice before crossing them. Good thing for me because I use cones when working out in traffic. 😉

I use this access road regularly with my truck, and I imagine a lot of other people do too. It saves a lot of time.

If there's a need to mark this as "not the entrance", what if we put up a sign that says "ROC Launch Entrance ↑" to strongly encourage people to use the "Cambria Rd" entry? That way, if your vehicle has clearance for the first road, you can still use it, but less-experienced folks (i.e., the ones who will probably get stuck) will go on down to the main road.

The worst cross-road rut is the one right next to 247, BTW. If you can clear that one you can make it all the way to the site :-)

OK, then maybe this one should be ‘closed’ with cones or a warning
at the turnoff.
If you have never been to a launch before and coming from the
south on the highway, it does look like it’s the turnoff, and now
more tracks are making this exit more visible. Just don’t want
someone damaging their RV by taking ‘the road less traveled.’ Cones could be spaced adequately for people that really want to
use the south access.

If the Board would like to do this, I would be happy to donate
about 5 cones and place them, but I will not be arriving until
Saturday morning.

I still would not recommend using the 'new' (southern) road. Yes,
more people are using it, but I've seen a number of people have
'bottoming out' damage when I was out there in March/April.

I think you can use Google Earth to locate the coordinates. Also, more people have been using the turnoff that’s south of
the usual one. In the past, the ruts were bad on this access
but maybe they are better currently.

Does anyone have the GPS coordinates for the turn off of Hwy 247?

Yes, I know the ones for the rangehead.
