Yes
"We almost certainly will end up with a second TIU dedicated to engine
programming." It won't everything, but we'll make it as long as we can... TIUs
can have separate numbers. If we do this right they won't conflict with each
other.

Tom,
One question I have for the future re-wire project, has there been any
consideration to adding a dedicated program track for Dcs. I know this would
lessen the interference when operating on the big layout. Thanks.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas!!

Granted, we have been burning through TIUs like popcorn. However, unless I am
very wrong we are lacking the technical ability to troubleshoot and resolve the
failures of these TIUs. That said, the plan is after our GBGH run we will get
RA (Return Authorization) from MTH and return all three to the OEM for repair.
We have the new 42" cabinet. There is already a plan to completely reconfigure
the controls for the large layout. I will be developing a wiring diagram prior
to construction. All are welcome to review, and provide input on the wiring.
We use two TIU channels now. In the future, we will be using all four.
Generally, envision the layout broken into four power districts. We almost
certainly will end up with a second TIU dedicated to engine programming. The
WiFi function will be expanded with the inclusion of a wireless router and WiFi
for both MTH and Legacy. The Cab 1Ls will become a spare for the 12x15 layout.
The club already owns the Cab2 Legacy system.
The existing Z4000 will be retained and dedicated exclusively for conventional
control. We have four Lionel PH180's that will be providing power for the
command control functions.
And yes Peter, we'll have a four port USB receptacle for charging phones and
other devices.

Guys:
Club funds should be used to solve large problems like this. After the GBGH
time is over we should have a committee em paneled that looks for a decent
solution to this never ending problem.
Thanks,

Subject: [rc3r] GBGH Sunday Sat afternoon we had a number of DCS issues.
Variable 2 channel (inside loop) on the TIU started acting strange. Engines
would stutter and stop, would not restart and then suddenly start responding,
even TMCC and conventional engines wouldn't work on the inside loop. The cheap
meter I've left there was showing 58 volts on the track! I don't think it was
actually that high, whatever was going on was "fooling" the meter. Changed the
inside loop over to Variable 1 and everything started working again. Then the
channel shut down altogether. We have voltage going in and nothing coming out.
Right now I have no idea what's wrong. I set up the inside loop for
conventional operation. It appears we are down to one operating channel on this
TIU.
For those working Sunday there will be no DCS on the inside loop. You can run
conventional or TMCC only. DCS should work OK on the outside loop.
