Rich. Thanks so much. I will take a peek. Not sure it will work for me. But I
will slip that on my other micro sd card and see how it goes.
As for USB thumb drives. I totally understand. I just have this weird thing
about stuff sticking out of my computers that don't have to be.
One thing I love about the PI is I can tuck that little sd card in there and
its safe/secure.
When I take it out I put it in the SD card bigger version reader that has a
little braille label stuck to the part that does not go into the USB SD card
reader. Problem solved.
It works for me anyway.
I have a braille r for raspbiian. A braille f for freebsd which sadly I just
can't use right now.
And a blank one just hanging around.
My track record has been much longer with SD cards than with thumb drives too.
I don't know why.
I always buy sandisk on both sides. But for some reason sooner or later usb
thumb drives break on me. Whereas I have rarely had a sd card break on me.
I don't know if its that I am rough on the thumb drives or what.
But thanks for confirming you can use usb thumb drives as well.
I don't think that will be my cup of tea. But its something to keep in mind.

According to Storm Dragon, there is now a version available for the Pi 3:
The original Pi3 image has been released.

I think I read you can use a usb thumb drive too.
But for me I prefer the micro sd cards.
As long as your really careful with them you don't lose them.
The 3B+ and 4B support booting from USB, but there are some gotchas:
- There can't be a bootable OS on the SD card.
- Whichever USB storage device responds first wins.
- Not every OS is set up to take advantage of this.
- Not every USB flash drive works properly.
That said, this approach can have some great advantages.
Aside from the fact that the USB fobs are larger and harder to lose,
they can have tags added to make them identifiable.
As a sighted user, I use paperboard tags that I can write on;
I also made up some tags with braille labels for a blind friend to use.
