Oxalic acid complexes with calcium in your system and precipitates nice little
needle shaped crystals of calcium oxalate in the kidneys and proceeds to punch
holes in the cells. Ethylene glycol is toxic through the same mechanism -
ethylene glycol is metabolized to oxalic acid in the body and then all
tarnation breaks loose.

Barkeeper's Friend cleaners so I suppose one should be careful of them.
