My first enlarger was one I built myself out of a 2/14x31/4, folding, roll
film camera. Added a light housing and mounted on inclined and slotted wooden
stand. Film carrier was rudimentary. The camera lens was the enlarging lens.
Here is a small image which I hope is OK with list rules. I used this for
several years while working for my high school magazine and yearbook. Later
got a Leica Valoy and later yet a Focomat 1C. I still have these two. In fact
I have 3 Valoys ... use them for improvising other things! The Focomat 1C is
my favorite even though I also was given a Focomat V35 which I don't use.

That's outstanding. Early in my photographic career I learned that
"real" photographers build a lot of their own stuff - sets, props,
darkrooms, etc.
