I do not wish to argue which is better, Nikkor lenses or Leitz ones.
They are certainly different, but that may be because they were designed
with different objectives (sorry) in mind.
But have you ever looked at the modulation transfer function curves of
these lenses? The Leitz lenses seem to have been designed to get the
highest possible resolution, whereas the Nikkors seem to have been
designed to get the highest modulation transfer up to some spatial
frequency, and sacrificing the extreme resolution at the higher spacial
frequencies.
And, depending on what you intend to do with this, either characteristic
might be the most appropriate.
