I'm among those that don't think it would be a good idea to soak the neg;
just keep the emulsion at reasonable room humidity, and perhaps warm
the neg a little (like 80F) which may accelerate flattening.

Or, I'd just try scanning it in the glass carrier and claim artifacts of the
crease are lomographic effects, those are trendy.
