The supplier J and C Photo says that this film is made in China and is
an "old technology" film. This was the reason I purchased it. I don't
particularly like T-grain or other modern films.
Looking at this first roll of negatives the film reminds me of Kodak
Verichrome Pan.

How do you know? I make various kinds of emulsions with parameters
designed to precipitate mostly one kind of crystal, but except scanning
electron microscopy there is no hard evidence I can use to show the
emulsion is in a specific crystalline habit.
