Also, I thought it only recorded a few seconds of my talking. I guess I just didn't understand how it works. Just for clarification, it is the left hand one of the 3 push in buttons on the front, the speech feedback should tell you it's setting when you press it in, it ranges from 0 to 20. The built in mic isn't brilliant, but adequate enough for quick notes, but works best when quite close up. I just got my ptr1 about a week ago. I tried to just record me talking as a test, but not very successfully. The recording seemed very weak in volume though I thought I had it set pretty high. I was using the built-in mike. Also, I thought it kept asking me for a title, which I didn't understand at all. You wouldn't give a title to just recording nothing in particular. I guess I just don't understand the unit very well at all. The general heading of "recording" is a pretty big subject. For example, is it straightforward voice recording or recording from another device that you are trying to do? I am having problems recording. I have read the cassette and my guide on CD, but I guess it just wasn't clear enough for me, or maybe I'm just kind of dense. Anyhow, I'm wondering if there is a good soul out there who might be willing to help. I'll be waiting to hear. This is a ptr1 by the way.
