Hi TY:
OK, I remembered after googling. I was going to start a LLC. That stands for Limited Liability Company. There are also some other, perhaps simpler, forms and I think one is called Limited Liability Partnership. The keywords here are Limited Liability. So the old fashoned Type C Corporation for self employed folks was for the Mom and Pop corner Store I think. The newer forms of Business Entities are for things like Web based businesses, Contractors, Professionals who provide services, etc... Look on google for keywords like "starting business type limited liability taxes" to get some initial background for further detailed research. You will need to get a lawyer just to protect yourself but that should not cost much. You might get a CPA instead of a lawyer or even just some so called startup specialist who will charge you less but I opted for the lawyer since I wanted to protect my personal assets and not have problems if things went horribly wrong.
